چکیده

Physico-chemical studies of some aqueous surfactant solutions were carried out by employing conductance, surface tension and spectrofluorometric techniques. From conductivity and surface tension measurements, critical micelle concentration (CMC), counter-ion association (α), equivalent conductance at infinite dilution (٨0), surface excess concentration (Γ), minimum area per molecule (Amin), surface pressure at CMC (CMC), thermodynamic properties of micellization ( Gomic, Homic, Somic) and adsorption ( Goads, Hoads and Soads) have been obtained for an anionic [bis (2-ethylhexyl) sulphosuccinate sodium salt (AOT)], a cationic [cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB)] and a nonionic [polyethylene (23) lauryl ether (Brij-35)] surfactant solutions. Effect of mixing co-solutes (dioxane and glycerol) on the physico-chemical properties of surfactant systems at 298.15, 308.15 and 318.15 K has been investigated. Surfactants micellar characteristics and their interaction with co-solutes were also investigated by fluorescence measurements of solutions using pyrene as a fluorescence probe.

Physico-chemical evaluation of a biocompatible microemulsion system containing IPM/Tween80/Isobutanol

A biocompatible microemulsion system comprising of isopropyl myristate (IPM) as oil, tween 80 as a non-ionic surfactant and isobuthanol as co-surfactant was studied experimentally at 298.15 K. The pseudo-ternary phase diagram for the microemulsion system has been delineated at different surfactant to co-surfactant mass ratio of 1:1, 2.4:1 and 4:1. Some physico-chemical properties such as densit...

The Effect of Type and Concentration of Surfactant and Ligand on Uranium (VI) Cloud-Point Extraction (CPE) from Aqueous Solutions (Short Communication)

In this article cloud-point extraction (CPE) was used with chelating agent to extract uranium from aqueous solutions. The methodology used is based on the formation of metal complexes soluble in a micellar phase of surfactant. The metal ions complexes are then extracted into the surfactant-rich phase at a temperature above the cloud-point temperature. The effect of type of surfactants and ligan...

Effect of carbon black and fly ash co-fillers content on mechanical and thermal behaviors of styrene butadiene rubber compounds

Fly ash (FA) is produced as a waste byproduct during the burning process of coal in thermal power plants whose cost is primarily associated to cleaning and transportation. It possesses mechanical properties on account of its constituents like silica and alumina. The use of FA as filler in styrene butadiene rubber (SBR) was of researchers’ interest to reinforce and/or to reduce product cost. In ...
